About the traditional Christmas dinner, we both students and teachers have had some long discussion and we even quarrelled!

At last we have decided that in Italy we have different traditions, according to the home towns and personal taste.

Ilaria:

The typical Italians dishes for Christmas are: lasagne (broad flat noodle),
tagliatelle (kind of ribon-shaped pasta),
roasted lamb,
vegetables,
panettone (kind of cake),
torrone ( kind of nougat),
pandoro (kind of cake).

Martina:

For Christmas. I usually have fish, which is served in a variety of dishes:
As starter I have "spaghetti" or "Risotto alla pescatora".
As main course, I have grilled fish and finally I can chose among "Panettone", "Torrone", "Panforte", "Pandoro".

Simona

In Rome, for the evening of 24th , we use to eat "di magro", that is only dishes with fish: ‘spaghetti’ with tuna fish or with ‘vongole’(hen clam); roasted or fried fish; ‘frittelle’(fried vegetables like brocoli and artichoke); white wine; ‘Panettone’

Luca

The 25th of December we are all together for the Christmas lunch and we may eat again meat; so we have: ‘Fettuccine’ (kind of ribon-shaped pasta) with ‘rag’(ragout); roasted lamb or chicken with potatoes; red wine; cakes
