Thermopolis, Wyoming
My teacher said that I should talk about Thermopolis, so here it goes... Thermopolis is known for the hot springs. That's why it is called Thermopolis. Thermo, means hot, and polis, means little town. We are home of the worlds largest hot mineral springs. The big spring (where the hot water breaks the surface) has a temperature varying from 127-132 degrees Fahrenheit! I bet that everyone out there has heard of Yellowstone National Park, well we are just a couple hours drive from there. It's really close. That is probably why we have the hot springs in Thermopolis. It is believed that all the hot water comes from the same underground system. Thermopolis has a population of roughly 3200 people. So you can see why alot of people in my school call it 'Hick-ville.' The elevation here is about 4300. The nearest mall is in Casper Wyoming, which is roughly a two hours drive from here. Our biggest store is probably Ben Franklin. But I still like it here. Because of the Mineral Springs, we are pretty much a tourist town. We have two pools in town with the Mineral Water. One is called the Star Plunge, and one is called Hellie's Teepee Spa. I swim at both pools, but I work at the Teepee. The temperature of the water in the pool is supposed to be around 92degrees F, but sometimes it's a little off. The Teepee has four hot tubs the coolest one is 100degrees F, and the warmest is 106degrees F. I urge you to come swimming here.
